Education

The college offers a full time Under-Graduate Degree programme in Veterinary Science and Animal Husbandry (BVSc & AH) with an annual intake strength of 80 students including Veterinary Council of India allotment. The Veterinary Council of India regulations are being followed for the undergraduate education. Master’s programme (MVSc) was started in the year 2019-20, besides a PG Diploma in Ethno-Veterinary Practice offered since 2017. Students is being taught by dedicated teachers with commendable qualification and expertise.

Teaching and Learning Facilities

Lecture and Examination Halls

A total of 5 lecture halls equipped with multimedia projection, audio-visual and dedicated internet facilities are available to make teaching and learning more effective and attractive. In addition, an examination hall to conduct hastle free examination under calm environment is also available.

Library Facilities

The library facilities area created in a floor space area of 8037.30 sq.ft. with 154 seaters. The library has a collection of 3438 books (Professional, other general and competitive exam books). Also, 19 journals (periodicals), 434 back volumes of journals, 19 magazines (periodicals) and 8 daily newspapers (Tamil and English) are subscribed to facilitate the knowledge enrichment of faculty, students and research scholars.

Computing and Internet Facilities

A computer centre has been established to provide internet services for the benefit of students and staff. A Locar Area Network was established connecting all the computers across the departments of the Institute. Students are extended with priceless hands-on training on 'word processing, spread operations and ideal seraching methods'.

Placement Cell

Objectives

  • To collect information about job opportunity prospects for students both within/outside the state and also in abroad
  • To collect information about opportunities available within India and outside for higher studies
  • To explore the possibilities of getting financial assistance from various organizations for pursuing higher studies in India/ Abroad
  • Giving suitable advice to the students to improve their academic excellence, training for self-employment programme, conducting periodical coaching classes for competitive examination and for securing scholarship and fellowships offered by various agencies

  • The Placement cell has organized a Webinar on “Career opportunities for Vets in Dairy Industry” with Dr. K.Baskarasethupathy, Director-Milk Collection, Lactalis India, Chennai as Resource person on 16.10.2020

Activities Proposed under NAAN MUDHALVAN Scheme

  • Placement cell is planning to organize the Recruitment drive (2016-17 Batch) passed out students who are going to complete their internship programme.
  • Placement cell is contemplating to organize ‘Industrial training programmes’ for 15 days in Dairy, Poultry, Meat and Pharmaceutical industries, besides best practices on ‘large and small animal practices’ for the final year students of 2017-18 Batch at their choice.
  • Invited lectures from successful entrepreneurs of dairy, poultry, piggery and value added livestock products will be arranged for the students to explore the career opportunities in livestock enterprises.
  • Career guidance opportunities in Civil services / Agricultural Research Services/ Remount Veterinary Corps etc., will be carried out periodically to the veterinary students.
  • Higher studies option both in India and abroad for veterinary students will be provided through invited lectures.
