Genesis and Growth

Veterinary College and Research Institute (VCRI), Namakkal has been founded upon the ideals of uplifting the farming community and has had a humble beginning in the year 1985. At the outset, this institute had been functioning under the TNAU, Coimbatore and in the year 1989 it became a constituent unit of India’s first veterinary varsity Tamil Nadu Veterinary and Animal Sciences University. Over the years, the college has excelled in its own right as a professional institution, producing internationally-renowned veterinarians and scientists.


Mandate

  • To impart education and training in multiple aspects of veterinary and animal sciences, in order to advance technical and professional manpower.
  • To provide research and development support for generation of technologies pertaining to the growth of livestock sector
  • To disseminate the research innovations through various outreach programmes

Faculty

VCRI, Namakkal desires to be an institution of national excellence in providing education and pursuing research in the field of veterinary and animal sciences. The Institute has qualified, best trained and dedicated teaching faculty. This college has a ratio of one teacher for every 5.8 students.
