The college library which is home to considerable volumes of professional and other genres was established in the year 1987 albeit in a temporary room, undergoing greater makeovers while getting shifted to the present building in the year 1995. It is currently under the aegis of “Automation and Library Management Software SOUL 2.0”, CCTV cameras, RFID (Radio Frequency Identification) technology, touch screen kiosk for OPAC access facility, Internet Kiosk with 25 computers and air conditioning facility. The library has a total number of 13151 printed books, 197 non book materials, 70 journals, 587 hard copies and 472 soft copies of the theses, 3600 back volumes of journals for the use of staff and students. Face recognition cum finger print biometric attendance system is also available.
In June 1991, hostel buildings were constructed in the college premises and a separate hostel for girl students was constructed in 1997-98. All the hostel inmates are being provided with Wi-Fi internet facility and other amenities as per the requirements. At present, the students are accommodated in seven blocks. Student mess is in operation on dividend system by elected student representatives and student auditors under the supervision of warden. VCRI, Namakkal hostel obtained the status of Right to Eat campus from FSSAI, Namakkal chapter during 2021. Hygienic potable water through RO plants is available in all the hostel blocks. A part time medical officer visits the hostel twice in a week to provide medical care to the students
The computer centre offer courses on computer applications for UG and PG students besides offering internet services to all the departments and students. Videoconferencing and CCTV surveillance of the campus are being maintained by this centre.
A scheme entitled Experiential Learning – setting up of facilities for hands on training on Commercial Pig Rearing and Feed Manufacturing Technology fully funded by ICAR is in operation at this institute. Hands on training are being given to students for updating technical know-how and they will work after the class hours. At the end of the scheme, 75% of the net profit generated will be distributed to the students.
The placement cell has got an indomitable role in equipping the student community with the evolving business mandates and industry practices. About 30 - 40% of the students pursue their post graduation every year. While 40 -50% of them get selected for the State Animal Husbandry department, 5 -10% choose to become Agriculture Research scientists. One percent of our outgoing students are able to crack the top competitive examinations. The remaining students are employed through campus interview in various livestock and poultry related industries such as poultry hatcheries, animal feed industries, pharmaceutical industries, poultry farms, dairy farms and milk processing units, etc.
