Genesis

The Directorate of Clinics (DC)is the country's first organizational setup, established by TANUVAS for the advancement of Animal Health, Animal Patient Care, State of the art Clinical Services Delivery, Clinical Education, Research, Technology Transfer, Clinical Human Resources Development and Outreach.
The Directorate of Clinics is committed to excellence in diagnosis, treatment and management of clinical problems. Apart from providing facilities for clinical training to the undergraduate and postgraduate students, it also provides research facilities to the staff and students. The faculty conducts research to enhance current knowledge regarding etiology, diagnosis, treatment of diseases and organizes overseas and national training programme for the benefit of the veterinary students and veterinary practitioners.

Objectives

  • To modernize and strengthen the facilities for treatment of animals in all the Teaching Veterinary Hospitals of the University.
  • To plan and supervise research in the clinical subjects at all campuses of the University.
  • To co-ordinate with the Deans of Colleges, Director of Research and Director of Extension Education in teaching, research and extension activities.
  • To provide training programme to field staff of Tamil Nadu and other States.
  • To educate public on Animal Welfare activities.
  • To provide Mobile Veterinary facilities in and around the Teaching Hospitals of the University.
  • To identify field problems related to sick animals in Tamil Nadu and to design an integrated approach for solving the clinical problems.

Teaching Veterinary Hospitals

The Directorate has seven Teaching and one Peripheral Veterinary Hospital under its ambit, of which four are well established and functioning for long years while the remaining three are being established and strengthened.

Working Days (Monday to Friday) 08.00 AM - 01.00 PM
Saturday, Sunday and All Government Holidays 08.00 AM - 11.30 AM

  • The Veterinary Teaching Hospitals provide high quality veterinary medical care and client services.
  • Emergency services for both large and small animals are available round the clock both at Madras Veterinary College and Veterinary College and Research Institute, Namakkal.
