Veterinary Clinical Complex of Veterinary College and Research Institute, Udumalpet has been established 0n 27.10.2020 to caters its effective diagnostic and therapeutic services in the large and small animal clinical practices and impart clinical training to the veterinary graduates. Veterinary Clinical Complex, Udumalpet has specialized units viz, Small Animal Medicine, Small Animal Surgery, Small Animal Gynaecology, Large Animal Medicine, Large Animal Surgery, Artificial Insemination, Large Animal Gynaecology and Large Animal Obstetrics and Veterinary Diagnostic Laboratory for effective teaching and to bestow better service to the public and rural farmers in Tiruppur, Coimbatore, Erode and Karur districts.
As per the Minimum Standards of Veterinary Education – 2016 regulations prescribed by Veterinary Council of India, the following courses are offered to the undergraduate students.
The Veterinary Diagnostic Laboratory (VDL), a unit of the Veterinary Clinical Complex, Veterinary College and Research Institute, Udumalpet provides state of the art clinical diagnosis, equipped with modern equipments, highly trained technical staff and subject experts. VDL provides Clinico-pathological learning experience for under graduate and post graduate students of TANUVAS.
The VDL is equipped with Auto haemo-analyser for complete haematology, fully automated biochemical analyzer for Clinical Biochemistry, electrolyte analyser and Urine analyser for Urinalysis and sophisticated microscope attached with CC TV-monitor and high megapixel camera for capturing images of clinical samples.
This laboratory is comprised of 7 smaller laboratory unit i) Clinical Haematology (Study of blood samples and its components) ii) Cytology (Study of cells mainly examining the body fluids such as exudates, transudates, pus and discharges) iii) Clinical biochemical profiling of serum iv) Clinical coprology (Examination of faeces) v) Clinical dermatology (Examination of skin scrapings) vi) Clinical urology (urinalysis) vii) Clinical microbiology (Culture, Isolation and identification of bacteria and fungi, Antibiogram etc.)
