DIRECTORATE OF RESEARCH

About the Directorate

The University has a strong research foundation, supported by a dedicated Directorate of Research that oversees the strategic planning and promotion of research activities. The Directorate facilitates collaborations with national and international research organizations, monitors research projects and funded schemes, and manages research documentation to foster a vibrant research ecosystem.

  • Research programmes are conducted through the University's research stations, farms, and laboratories operating under the Directorates of Animal Production and Animal Health, as well as through its constituent colleges benefitting livestock and poultry farmers, entrepreneurs, and society at large.

Research Council

The Research Council is the University's apex policy-making body for research activities, with the Vice-Chancellor serving as its Chairperson. The Council is responsible for formulating research policies and providing strategic direction to the University's research programmes. It considers and makes recommendations on matters related to:

  • Identifying thrust areas and formulation of research programmes and projects by the various university units in the field of animal and veterinary sciences with a view to promote effective cooperation.
  • Infrastructure facilities required for implementing research projects.
  • Linking teaching, research and extension activities.
  • Orienting research to meet farmers need.
  • Analyze the reports of on-going / completed research projects submitted by the scientists concerned.
  • Any other matter pertaining to Animal Husbandry / Veterinary Sciences Research which may be referred by State / BOM/ Vice-Chancellor or any other authorities of the University / Agencies.
