SALIENT ACHIEVEMENTS


Projects and Schemes Won during 2020-21

  • The Government of Tamil Nadu has sanctioned a project on “Establishment of Regional Referral Farm Animal Clinic for Rural farmers upliftment” at a budget of Rs. 500 lakhs under NADP
  • The Government of Tamil Nadu has sanctioned a project on "Augmenting reproductive and production potential through adoption of assisted reproductive techniques using sexed semen in dairy cattle" at a budget of Rs. 208.90 lakhs under NADP
  • The Government of Tamil Nadu has sanctioned a project on "Establishment of a Small Ruminant Research Centre for in-situ conservation of the native germplasm of Chevvadu, Ramnad White and Katchaikatty Black sheep breeds at Southern Tamil Nadu in VC&RI, Tirunelveli” at a budget of Rs. 80 lakhs
  • The Government of Tamil Nadu has sanctioned a project on "Development of poultry entrepreneurship in hatchery management, poultry meat processing and value addition among two hundred native chicken farmers for food safety and security" at a budget outlay of Rs.87 lakhs
  • The Government of Tamil Nadu has sanctioned a project on "Genetic improvement of Kanni Adu, Kodi Adu and Salem black indigenous goat breeds through production of goat semen straws for artificial insemination in 1000 goats for doubling farmers’ income" at a budget outlay of Rs.149 lakhs
  • The Government of Tamil Nadu has sanctioned a project on "Strengthening of Veterinary Incubation Foundation at TANUVAS through civil structures to nurture start-up companies and entrepreneurs in the area of Veterinary and Animal Sciences" at a budget outlay of Rs. 71.94 lakhs
  • The Government of Tamil Nadu has sanctioned a project on "Strengthening of Viral Vaccine Research Centre-Viral Vaccines at Madhavaram Milk Colony to develop vaccine against several emerging viral pathogens" at a budget outlay of Rs.75 lakhs

Salient Achievements: Proposals Won during 2021-22

  • Two schemes namely “Establishment of Madras Red Sheep Input Centre” and “Establishment of modern Salem Black Goat farm” with a total budget outlay of Rs.434.75 lakhs have been sanctioned to TANUVAS and implemented under National Agricultural Development Programme to conserve native sheep and goat germplasms of Tamil Nadu
  • Under National Agricultural Development Programme, Zoonotic disease diagnostic laboratory is being established in the Cauvery delta region of Tamil Nadu with a budget outlay of Rs.254.50 lakhs to cater the needs of the delta region for the diagnosis and management of zoonotically important diseases

  • Scheme on “Revitalizing Dairy cattle through TANUVAS GRAND supplement to enhance the productivity and profitability” with a budget outlay of Rs.200 lakhs has been sanctioned to TANUVAS under National Agricultural Development Programme to double farmer’s income by enhancing the productivity in low yielding cattle population of Tamil Nadu
