NCC & NSS
National Cadet Corps (NCC)
CC unit was started in October 1994 under 6/12 TN Batallion, Salem and currently it is functioning with a total strength of 52 cadets
National Service Scheme (NSS)
NSS is offered as one of the compulsory co-curricular activities for B.V.Sc. & A.H. students from first professional to third professional year.
Veterinary College and Research Institute, Namakkal holds two NSS units and around 200 students have enrolled in NSS units.
The NSS units regularly conduct camps aiming at creating awareness on environmental health and public health to the College students and public through conducting programmes such as Swachh Bharat, tree plantation, blood donation, animal welfare, plastic awareness, drug abuse awareness and other such themes.
Regular camps are organized by the NSS units in various places in and around Namakkal and Trichy districts
The NSS units have adopted Ariyur village in Namakkal district and served the village significantly by conducting special camps and awareness programmes on animal health and various social issues on World Veterinary Day, World Zoonoses Day and World rabies day.
Aims
NSS Unit of VCRI, Namakkal aims to make the students understand the relationship of the students with the community.
To make the students socially responsible and utilize their knowledge in finding solutions for the community and individual problems.
To make the students acquire leadership qualities and provide services to the community without any bias.
