NCC & NSS Units


National Cadet Corps (NCC)

  • The NCC unit of the college is attached to 34 Indep Coy NCC Unit, Thanjavur. The NCC cadets are trained in basic military training such as drill weapon training, self-defense, first aid and leadership.

Enrolment

  • 17 cadets are enrolled for the first year 2020 – 2021 at Veterinary College and Research Institute, Orathanadu.

Annual Camp and Awards

  • Cadet. Maha. GanesaMoorthy, has participated and completed the Online EK BHARAT SHRESHTHA BHARAT (EBSB) Phase VIII from 26th July to 31st July 2021 hosted TN, P&AN Directorate NCC.
  • A total of Thirty one NCC Cadets of VCRI Orathanadu participated in the DTE RDC TRG I Cum CATC at NCC Training Academy, Idayapatti, Madurai from 22 Oct 2021 to 31 Oct 2021. During the Camp, cadets learnt Time Management, Drill Parade, Map Reading and Rifle shooting. Further, Sgt. Manoj Kumar G, I.D. No. BVO 18032 secured 1st position in Elocution competition and did Master of ceremony in inauguration session, Cdt. Maha. GanesaMoorthy, I.D. No. BVO 19036 won overall championship in shooting competition and Cdt. Tamileniyan E, I.D. No. BVO 19065 secured 1st position in Essay writing competition. Under the guidance of Dr. N. Narmatha, Dean, VCRI, Orathanadu, Dr. R. Suresh, NCC Caretaker, coordinated the camp activities.
  • Cdt. Maha. GanesaMoorthy, I.D. No. BVO 19036 got selected for the Idayapatti special RDC selection camp and he performed various activities viz., personality test, group discussion, individual drill test, firing, flag briefing about ecological sustainability of Tamil Nadu and attended qualifying written examination.

Certificate Examination

  • The NCC Cadets of VCRI Orathanadu attended B & C Certificate Examination on 28 & 29th March 2022 and 2 & 3rd April 2022, respectively at Town High School Kumbakonam conducted by the Group Directorate of NCC Tiruchirapalli.

Certificate Examination

  • 33 NCC Cadets participated in the “World Water Day” rally jointly organized by NCC and NSS units of Veterinary College and Research Institute, Orathandu on 22.03.2021 at Orathanadu and educated the public about the importance of water and its conservation.
  • Cadet E. Tamieniyan, Cadet V. Tarun and Cadet MahaGanesaMoorthy had participated and delivered a speech in the webinar on Importance of National Integration in Nation Building on 13.8.2021 organised by 34(TN) Indep Coy NCC, Thanjavur.

National Service Scheme (NSS)

  • NSS unit of VCRI, Orathanadu functioning with one unit of 100 NSS volunteers and one NSS Programme Officer. The Motto of the NSS is ‘ Not Me But YOU’. This reflects the essence of democratic living and upholds the need for self- less service. It emphasizes that the welfare of an individual ultimately leads to the welfare of the society. NSS units are regularly involved in conducting veterinary and human health camps, blood donation camps, etc.routinely.
  • The NSS unit volunteers of Veterinary College and Research Institute, Orathanadu, participated in the rally was organized by the District Collectorate, Thanjavur, towards the nationwide celebration of 75th Independence year – Salt Satyagraha on 13.03.2021.
  • The NSS unit of Veterinary College and Research Institute, Orathanadu, organized a rally to create awareness on the value of water and its rational use among the students and public in Orathanadu town towards the World Water Day on 22.03.2021.
  • The NSS Unit of Veterinary College and Research Institute Orathanadu celebrated the 52nd NSS Day on 24.09.2021. A mass tree plantation was arranged at various places around the VCRI Campus.
  • The NSS unit of VCRI, Orathanadu organised the ‘Flag Day’ celebration on 07.12.2021.
  • On behalf of NSS unit totally Rs. 6,850/- (Rupees Six thousand eight hundred and fifty only) was collected from teaching, non-teaching and students.
  • The National Social Service (NSS) Unit, Veterinary College and Research Institute, Orathanadu participated in the World Tourism Day celebration organized by Tourism Department, Govt. of India, Chennai Region on 27.09.2022. During this event, students participated in cleaning of Thanjavur Brahadeeswarar temple, tourism awareness rally and Thanjavur dancing doll demonstration programme. A total of 100 students were participated in event.
