• The Students' Hostel of Veterinary College and Research Institute (VCRI), Orathanadu provides safe, comfortable and well-maintained residential facilities for undergraduate, postgraduate and intern students. Located within the campus, the hostel offers a conducive environment for academic learning, personal development and student well-being. The hostel infrastructure, established in 2012, provides a safe, secure and student-friendly residential environment that supports academic excellence, personal development and overall well-being.
• The hostel complex accommodates approximately 600 students and comprises four residential blocks named after the illustrious rulers and heritage of the Chola dynasty. The boys' hostel consists of Karikalan Illam and Rajarajan Illam, while the girls' hostel comprises Marudham Illam and Ponni Illam.

• The institute provides separate and secure hostel facilities for boys and girls within the campus. The boys' hostel consists of Karikalan Illam and Rajarajan Illam with accommodation for approximately 250 students, while the girls' hostel comprises Marudham Illam and Ponni Illam with accommodation for more than 350 students. The hostels provide comfortable residential accommodation for undergraduate, postgraduate and intern students with adequate study, recreation and welfare facilities.

• The hostel administration functions under the overall supervision of the Dean, VCRI, Orathanadu. Student welfare activities are coordinated by the Warden and a team of Deputy Wardens for boys and girls. The Warden and Deputy Wardens reside within or near the hostel premises, ensuring round-the-clock support and supervision for students. A dedicated team of wardens and faculty members ensures student welfare, discipline, safety and effective hostel management throughout the year. A Hostel Amenities Committee and Anti-Ragging Squad function throughout the year to promote student welfare, discipline and safety.

• The hostel provides separate dining facilities for boys and girls. The mess is operated on a dividend system managed by students under the guidance of the Warden and supervision of the Deputy Wardens. The dining halls are equipped with modern cooking facilities and infrastructure to provide hygienic and nutritious food to students.

• Student health and well-being are given high priority. A healthcare centre with basic medical facilities functions within the hostel campus for the benefit of students. A Medical Officer visits periodically and emergency transport facilities are available 24×7.

• Student welfare is accorded high priority in the hostel through various support systems and monitoring mechanisms. An Anti-Ragging Squad and Monitoring Committee functions throughout the year to ensure a safe, respectful and ragging-free environment for all students. The Hostel Amenities Committee regularly reviews student requirements and facilitates improvements in hostel facilities and services. Faculty members provide mentorship, guidance and counselling support to promote the academic, personal and professional development of students. In addition, healthcare support and emergency transportation facilities are available round the clock to address urgent needs. These initiatives collectively contribute to creating a safe, supportive, inclusive and student-friendly residential environment within the hostel campus.

• Students also have access to indoor and outdoor sports facilities available within the college campus, promoting physical fitness and recreation.
