EDUCATION

The works relating to creation of infrastructural, administrative and academic facilities as per Minimum Standards of Veterinary Education (MSVE-2016) of Veterinary Council of India (VCI) have been completed and the first professional year has been commenced from the academic year 2020-21 with an intake capacity of 40 students. At present two batches of students i.e., 2020-21 and 2021-2022.
The Education Cell is functioning from the year 2021 onwards to look after the Co-ordination of academic programme. The cell works under the direct control of the Dean, Veterinary College and Research Institute, Udumalpet.


Objectives

  • Implementing and Monitoring UG curriculum as per VCI regulations
  • Personality development of students for improving academic activities and for holistic development
  • Creating infrastructure and providing ambient learning atmosphere
  • Major activities

    • Co-ordinate Undergraduate programme and academic activities as per VCI regulations
    • Conduct the stipulated examinations for Undergraduate programmes as per existing new VCI pattern and communicate the results to the University
    • To monitor overall welfare of the students and other activities apart from their academic programme
    • Providing inputs for improvement of veterinary curriculum
    • Encourage and facilitate the students to participate in extracurricular activities
    • Act as facilitator for getting financial assistance/ scholarship from Government and private agencies for undergraduate students
    • To facilitate for better learning and teching environment, the following activities are being carried out:

      • Individual care to each student has been rendered through ward counselling activities by engaging dedicated ward counsellors
      • Periodical guest lectures during national and international days of significance
      • Encouraging students to participate in various extra-curricular activities
      • Students were seamlessly trained to practice Covid – 19 appropriate behaviours both on and off-campus to ensure safe study environment
      • Providing necessary boarding ad lodging facilities to improve their physical and mental health
      • Encouraging students to use library facilities effectively
      • Anti-ragging committee is in place to prevent ragging activities among themselves, if any

      Students Insurance

      All the students were insured under Group insurance Policy from Oriental Insurance Company Limited as per the University guidelines and both student and one earning parent is covered. The sum insured for the student/year is Rs.5,00,000/- and the sum insured for the earning parent of the student/year is Rs. 2,00,000/-.

      Scholarship

      Various scholarships such as Free Education and Post Matric for BC/MBC/DNC students and SC/ST students are provided for pursuing their studies by the Government of Tamil Nadu and Government of India.

      • Free Education and Post Matric Scholarship for BC/MBC/DNC students
      • Post Matric Scholarship for SC/ST students
      • Higher Education Scholarship for SC/ST students
      • Pudhumai Penn Scheme for the girl students who studied in government schools from class 6 to class 12. The Government of Tamil Nadu has launched this Scheme to enhance the enrolment ratio of girls from Government schools to Higher Education Institutions. Through this scheme, the financial assistance of Rs. 1000/month will be provided to the girls till their completion of UG degree course.
