EDUCATION

All the infrastructural, administrative and academic facilities have been established as per the stipulations with the Minimum Standards of Veterinary Education (MSVE-2016) of Veterinary Council of India (VCI).

The First professional year B.V.Sc. & A.H commenced from the academic year 2020-21 with an intake capacity of 40 students, which was subsequently increased to 80 students from the academic year 2022-23 onwards.


To facilitate for better learning and teaching environment, the following activities are being carried out

  • Individual care to each student has been rendered through ward counselling activities by engaging dedicated ward counsellors.
  • Periodical guest lectures are being organised in commemoration with various national and international days of significance.
  • Encouraging students to participate in various extra-curricular activities.
  • Providing necessary boarding and lodging facilities to improve their physical and mental health.
  • Encouraging students to use library facilities effectively.
  • Anti-ragging committee and Anti-ragging squad have been constituted to prevent ragging and strict anti-ragging measures are being taken as per the UGC guidelines.

  • Pudhumai Penn Scheme for the girl students and Tamizh Pudhalvan for the boy students who studied in government schools from class 6 to class 12. Through this scheme, a financial assistance of Rs. 1000/month will be provided to the students till their completion of UG degree course.

STUDENTS INSURANCE

All the students and one earning parent are covered under Group Insurance Policy of Oriental Insurance Company Limited in line with the prevailing University guidelines. The sum insured for the student/year is Rs.5,00,000/- and the sum insured for the earning parent of the student/year is Rs. 2,00,000/-

Pavithra Third Professional year B.V.Sc. & A.H. student won the third prize in Painting competition and the team of Third Professional year B.V.Sc. & A.H. student (M. Bhavadharani, S. Jaianusiya, D. Swetha ) won first prize and the team (K. Raviragul, K. Sargurunathan and M. Pramoth ) won the second prize in the Cooking competition in the International Conference on “Dairy Products in Human Health and Nutrition: Innovations and Opportunities” on 14.12.2023 at Periyar University, Salem organized by Indian Dairy Association - Tamil Nadu Chapter and Department of Nutrition and Dietetics, Periyar University, Salem.

2024-25

  • B. Manjushree won first Prize in Companion animal (Medicine) and also bagged the SAPAC - Budding Veterinarian Award (Medicine) & INDIAN IMMUNOLOGICALS Award – (Small Animal medicine Category) in the TANUVAS – 14th Clinical case conference on “Farm and Companion Animal practice for Veterinary Students” at Madras Veterinary College, Chennai on 01.08.2024 and 02.08.2024.
  • S. Suren Athithya (IV B.V.Sc. & A.H) won Second Prize in Farm animal (Medicine) Category in the TANUVAS – 14th Clinical case conference on “Farm and Companion Animal practice for Veterinary Students” at Madras Veterinary College, Chennai on 01.08.2024 and 02.08.2024.
  • S. Ramya (IV B.V.Sc. & A.H) won Second Prize in Farm animal (OG) Category in the TANUVAS – 14th Clinical case conference on “Farm and Companion Animal practice for Veterinary Students” at Madras Veterinary College, Chennai on 01.08.2024 and 02.08.2024
  • G. Pravina (IV B.V.Sc. & A.H) won third Prize in the Small Ruminants practice Category in the TANUVAS – 14th Clinical case conference on “Farm and Companion Animal practice for Veterinary Students” at Madras Veterinary College, Chennai on 01.08.2024 and 02.08.2024.
  • J. Baranishwar and S. Suren Athithya (IV B.V.Sc. & A.H) won the Oral presentation awards and two students bagged the cash prize awards of Rs.10,000/- for their concepts on “Biochip for estrus detection” and “QR Tagging of animals” in the three days National Conference -VET-SPARKS 2024 organized by Veterinary Incubation Foundation during June 2024 at Chennai.
  • R. Shobhika (IV B.V.Sc. & A.H) won First Prize (LAC – OG category) in the Clinical Case Conference organized at the Rajiv Gandhi Institute of Veterinary Education and Research, Puducherry during 07.01.2025- 08.01.2025.
