Outreach Activities

  • Plastic free campus awareness programme was conducted on 12.12.2021 among the students to circumvent plastic usage and to avoid long-lasting environmental damage/ pollution caused by plastic materials.
  • Tree plantation programme was conducted on 11.01.2021 at Veterinary College and Research Institute campus, Salem and the importance of tree plantation in biodiversity conservation, resistance to soil erosion, water storage and to tackle climate change were explained to participants.
  • Village Adoption Programme was initiated at a nearby village – Sarvoy and initiated holistic societal development of the adopted village. An animal health camp was conducted on 15.02.2022. Basic information on health, nutrition, breeding, feeding, management, insurance of livestock to the farmers were explained. Apart from the veterinary health check-up dewormers and mineral mixtures were distributed at free of cost to the farmers.
  • At adopted village Sarvoy, a Veterinary Health Camp was organized on 16.05.2022. Veterinary health services like treatment of medical ailments, surgical cases, artificial insemination and deworming were rendered in the camp. In addition, diagnosis of infertility and early pregnancy was carried out using ultrasonography. A total of 304 animals and 57 farmers were benefitted from the camp.
  • Eigth “International Yoga Day” was celebrated at Veterinary College and Research Institute, Salem on 21st June 2022 with the theme 'Yoga for Humanity' with great enthusiasm. Mr.Saravanan, Yoga expert explained different types of yoga and how it can be used as a tool for the maintenance of individual health.
  • “Azadi ka Amrit Mahotsav” was celebrated on 02.08.2022 at Panchayat Union Middle School of adopted village, Sarvoy with an awareness programme entitled “Unsung Heroes of Freedom Struggles”.
  • An awareness programme on “Clean Milk Production Practices” was conducted for 25 dairy farmers of adopted village, Sarvoy on 02.08.2022 as a part of “Azadi ka Amrit Mahotsav” celebrations.
