1 The then Hon’ble Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu made the announcement of establishment the fifth Veterinary College and Research Institute at Thalaivasal Koot Road in Salem district on the floor of assembly on 13.02.2019 under rule 110 of the Tamil Nadu Legislative Assembly.
2 The then Hon’ble Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu participated in the Bhoomi Puja and laid the foundation stone for the establishment of the Veterinary College and Research Institute, Salem on 09.02.2020.
3 The then Hon’ble Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu formally inaugurated the newly constructed buildings of Veterinary College and Research Institute- Salem at Thalaivasal Koot Road on 22.02.2021.
4 The designated team of Veterinary Council of India, New Delhi visited the College on10th and 11thFebruary 2021 for the very first time and inspected all the created infrastructural and academic facilities pertaining the first and second professional year in compliance with the MSVE 2016.
5 The undergraduate admission was initiated during the year 2021 and the first batch with a total strength of 40 students (21 boys and19 girls), the classes were initially conducted via virtual mode from 29.03.2021 onwards for eighty-six days owing to the Covid 19 pandemic and then shifted to the regular offline mode at our Campus duly following the COVID protocols from 23.08.2021.
6 The First research project of VCRI, Salem-“Exploring the immuno-thermal tolerant potential of taurine and indicine cattle breeds by in-vitro thermal cum endotoxin induced stress challenge” with a budget outlay of Rs. 27.78 lakhs from the Department of Science and Technology, New Delhi has been bagged by Dr.K.Rajamanickam, Assistant Professor, Department of Veterinary Physiology and Biochemistry during the year 2020-21.
7 As a part of NSS activities, a nearby village Sarvoy has been adopted on 15.02.2022 under the Village Adoption Programme to initiate and bring about holistic societal development in the adopted village.
8 The nominated team from Veterinary Council of India, New Delhi has visited the College on 11th to 13th April 2022 for the second time and inspected the facilities established at our College as stipulated in the MSVE 2016
9 To offer veterinary services to the rural villages and also to be incompliance with the MSVE 2016 of Veterinary Council of India,an Ambulatory unit of Veterinary Clinical Complex has been functioning from 16.05.2022 in the adopted village-Sarvoy.
10 The Hon’ble Vice Chancellor of our University has inaugurated the commencement of clinical activities of Veterinary Clinical Complex at Veterinary College and Research Institute, Thalaivasal Koot Road, Salem on June 3rd, 2022.
11 The first ever College Day (VETEXUBERANZA ‘22) and Hostel Day was celebrated at VCRI, Salem on 12.08.2022. Dr. K. N. Selvakumar, Vice Chancellor, TANUVAS graced the occasion as the Chief Guest, released the College Magazine-MIND’S EYE and distributed the prizes.
12 The first ever Annual Sports Day (VETZESTA ’22) was celebrated at VCRI, Salem on 11.08.2022. Dr.P. Tensingh Gnanaraj, Registrar, TANUVAS and Dr. M. Sundaralingam, Member, BoM graced the occasion as the Chief Guest and Guest of Honour respectively and distributed the prizes.
13 The maiden technical scientific programme- National Workshop entitled “Advanced Experimentation Techniques in Cardiovascular Physiology” was organised on 30.09.2022 by the Department of Veterinary Physiology and Biochemistry, a part of World Heart Day Celebrations, 2022 involving four Guest lectures and 50 research scholars participated in the programme.
