Department of Veterinary and Animal Husbandry Extension Education

The Department of Veterinary and Animal Husbandry Extension Education has been established in an area of 8099 sq. ft to offer Undergraduate course and to equip the students for carrying out field extension activities in an effective manner.

Objectives

To impart undergraduate course in Veterinary and Animal Husbandry Extension Education.
To conduct research in extension methodologies for fostering livestock development
To carry out various extension programmes on animal health and production in selected villages for the benefit of end-users.

Education

During the third Professional Year of B.V. Sc & AH, Veterinary and Animal Husbandry Extension Education (3+1) course is offered with nine units for conceptual understanding of the subject and practical application of the extension concepts.

Museum cum Livestock Advisory Unit - All these laboratories and units were enriched with sophisticated equipment like LCD Projectors, Public Address System, Audio mixture, Digital audio recording unit

Outreach Activities

Conducting Participatory Rural Appraisal (PRA) for need assessment and problem identification
Village adoption to improve the socio-economic status of the farming community in selected villages through interventions in livestock farming
Dissemination of animal husbandry technologies through television and radio
Capacity building of farmers and extension personnel
Offering farm advisory services for farmers
