ICAR - Krishi Vigyan Kendra, (Villupuram II) Kallakurichi is a peripheral unit of Tamil Nadu Veterinary and Animal Sciences University, Chennai with funding of Indian Council of Agricultural Research, New Delhi, functioning since 18.02.2019. Krishi Vigyan Kendra, Kallakurichi, is a centre for transfer of technologies from lab to various groups like Farming Community, Self Help Groups, Rural Youths, Extension Personnel etc., through organizing various events like Trainings, On Farm Testing, Front Line Demonstrations and Advisory services regularly.
OBJECTIVES
The overall mandate of the KVK is to develop and disseminate location specific technological modules at district level through Technology Assessment, Refinement and Demonstration and to act as Knowledge and Resource Centre for agriculture and its allied activities.
Conduct ‘On Farm Testing’ (OFT) in farmer’s field for identifying technologies suitable for location specific sustainable land-use systems.
Organize ‘Front Line Demonstrations’ (FLD) on various crops/ livestock to generate production data & feedback.
Organize training programmes to update the extension personal with recent advances in agricultural research on a regular basis. Organize short and long term training courses in Agriculture and allied enterprises for farmers, rural youth and unemployed women with emphasis on “Learning by doing’ for higher output and to generate self employment.
Function as knowledge cum resource centre for agriculture and allied sectors in the district. Production of quality seeds and planting materials for distribution among the farmers.

Regular conduct of Front Line Demonstration and On Farm Testing
Collect soil, water and plant samples from affected agriculture and horticulture fields, analyse the samples and recommend remedial measures to be adopted
