Objectives of the Constituents Units


Objectives of VUTRC(s) and FTC(s)

The Veterinary University Training and Research Centres (VUTRCs) and Farmers Training Centres (FTCs) that are under the control of the Directorate of Extension Education have the following objectives:

  • Transfer of livestock and poultry related technologies including natural resources management through frontline extension / change agents
  • Strengthening livestock and poultry research – extension linkage for developing need specific technologies
  • Promotion of livestock production eco-system through TANUVAS / entrepreneurs for sustaining livestock based livelihood.

Objectives of Krishi Vigyan Kendras (KVK)

The Four Krishi Vigyan Kendras functioning at Kattupakkam, Kundrakudi, Namakkal and Villupuram-II (Kallakkurichi) are funded by the Indian Council of Agricultural Research, New Delhi have the following objectives:

  • To provide technical know-how in the field of Agriculture, Horticulture, Livestock, Poultry, Home Science, Agricultural Engineering and Fisheries etc.
  • To organize short term and long duration training programmes
  • To provide non-formal education by way of field trips, farm visits, farmers fairs, radio talks
  • To organize demonstrations on scientific practices to convince the farmers on latest technical knowledge

Objectives of ATIC

The Agricultural Technology Information Centre (ATIC) that is functioning under the control of the Directorate of Extension Education have the following objectives:

  • To deliver all the technologies developed in this university to the farmers, entrepreneurs and others
  • To offer services through Animal Clinics
  • To provide latest information to the needy personnel related to Veterinary, Animal Husbandry and Fisheries sectors.
