DEPARTMENT OF VETERINARY BIOCHEMISTRY

The Department of Veterinary Biochemistry was started during 1985, on the same year, when the Veterinary College and Research Institute started functioning at Namakkal. The subject of biochemistry is taught in the first, fourth and fifth year for B.V.Sc & A.H. students as per VCI curriculum and minor courses are offered for the M.V.Sc / Ph.D. scholars of allied disciplines, as per ICAR syllabus since 1994.

Objectives

  • To impart knowledge of Biochemistry to the UG and PG graduates of Veterinary Science.
  • To undertake research projects.

Infrastructure

The department has modern laboratory facility for both UG and PG students with well furnished worktable and latest instruments like Spectrophotometer, Refrigerated centrifuge, Electrophoresis, Gel documentation and chromatography units etc. for the effective teaching of practical and research works.
