Physical Education and Sports



The Department of Physical Education was established on 2012. The aim of Physical Education subject is to strengthen the students overall physical state and develop their physical abilities in order to achieve a generally acceptable fitness level which will enable them to fulfil their daily duties and to awaken and develop an active interest in physical activity and sports.
The Department is functioning under the direct control of the Dean, Veterinary College and Research Institute, Tirunelveli. The Assistant Director of Physical Education heads the Department under the guidance of Sports Secretary. The Sports Committee consists of the Dean, Sports Secretary, Professor and Head of various faculties of the college and Assistant Director of Physical Education.

Activities

  • The Department conduct the Non – Credit Compulsory Physical Education Course for the First & Second Year Students (0+1).
  • The Department organize the Republic Day and Independence Celebrations.
  • The Department organize the Sports Day Celebrations and conduct the various sports and games to the students and staff of the Institution.
  • The Department gives the Fitness Training in every day evening session to all the students for their well being.
  • The Specialized sports students are do their training, and practice their own specialized game namely Athletics, Badminton, Basketball, Cricket, Football, Kabaddi and Volleyball under the coaching given by the Assistant Director.
  • The Department takes the initiative to give the fitness programme for the faculty of the Institution.
