Veterinary College and Research institute, Salem library was established with well-equipped modern facilities to support the academic, research and general informational needs of the students and faculties. The library is located in a separate building (10512.52 square feet) with following infrastructure facilities:

Reprography room (225 sq.ft.)
e-Library room (678 sq.ft.)
Binding room (225 sq.ft.)
Committee room (465 sq.ft.)
Own book reading room (387 sq.ft.)
Office room (225 sq.ft.)

Objectives

To support the educational and research programs by providing access to information consistent with the present and anticipated educational and research functions of this institute.
To provide the opportunities for the students to develop the knowledge and skills to access library resources.
To provide facilities for all teaching, learning, educational and research programmes.
To provide a secure and conducive learning environment for the use of library resources.

Library facilities

A total of 1200 books were purchased for the value of Rs. 23, 68,068 and 11 Indian journals (Print and online version) and 4 Indian journals (Print version) have been subscribed for the value of Rs. 19,810. The Journal subscribed are as follows:

Activities and Services

Reprographic Facilities

Photocopying and Printing facilities are available to the library users at nominal charges for the benefits of the students and staff of VCRI, Salem.

Information Literacy / Library Orientation Programmes

The VCRI Library periodically conducts information literacy / library orientation programmes to the library users. Awareness programmes are also being conducted for the benefit of library users regularly. In addition, now and then, hands on training are also being imparted to utilize the library online resources like OPAC, CeRA, Science Direct, Cab Direct Online , ICAR, WHO, OIE, TANUVAS Website E-learning sources, Google Scholar, Google Translator etc.
