EXTRA CURRICULAR ACTIVITIES

SPORTS

Realizing the importance of sports and games, practice and participation of the students in sports and games is encouraged. The college has a large open playground for cricket, football, hockey and athletics. There are separate volleyball and basketball courts. There is an indoor sports complex which houses badminton court and gymnasium. Facilities for indoor games such as Table tennis and Carrom are also available.

NATIONAL CADET CORPS

The NCC unit of Madras Veterinary College is attached to 1(TN)Remount and Veterinary Squadron and comprises of two companies of two hundred cadets commanded by two Company Commanders. The NCC cadets are trained in basic military training such as drill weapon training, map reading, self defence, first aid and leadership. Under special core training the cadets are trained in horse riding and various equestrian events. They also regularly partake in Republic Day parades at New Delhi.

NATIONAL SERVICE SCHEME

The NSS unit of Madras Veterinary College has four functional groups with 100 volunteers in each group. The NSS Co-ordinator has overall control of all the four groups and each group functions under the guidance of one program officer. The NSS units are regularly involved in conducting veterinary and human health camps. Besides, blood donation camps, career guidance programmes etc. are held regularly. NSS camps are also held to foster team building and to inculcate nation building among students.

WILDLIFE CLUB

The Wildlife Club of the college offers insight into various interesting aspects of wildlife and enthuses students to learn more about wildlife.
