The Department of Animal Genetics and breeding was established in the year 2020 with the following proposed objectives:

• To offer undergraduate courses in Animal Genetics and Breeding
• To undertake research on breeding for better livestock production and breed improvement programmes
• To disseminate the scientific breeding technologies for the betterment of farming community

Courses offered

As per the MSVE 2016 regulations prescribed by VCI, the department is offering the following under-graduate courses:

• II Professional Year – B.V.Sc&A.H.
  • Animal Genetics and Breeding – Paper I and II – Credit Hours: 3+1
    • Unit – I: Biostatistics and Computer Application
    • Unit – II: Principles of Genetics and Population Genetics
    • Unit – III: Principles of Animal Breeding
