Genesis

  • The Department of Livestock Products Technology was established in 22.06.2012 at this college.

Objectives

  • To undertake teaching in the field of Livestock Products Technology.
  • To develop new technologies for value addition, enhance the palatability and shelf life of various livestock products.
  • To disseminate research findings to the dairy farmers, entrepreneurs and women self-help groups by conducting training programmes.
  • To provide consultancy in the manufacturing, packaging and quality control of livestock products.
  • To conduct research on need based field and industry oriented problems.

Education

Under-Graduate

  • LPT -311 Milk and Milk Products Technology (1+1).
  • LPT – 312 Abattoir practices and animal products technology (1+1).
  • LPT – 321 Meat Science (1+1).

Research

  • The thrust areas of research in Livestock Products technology being undertaken by the department are functional foods, nutraceuticals, fresh milk and meat technology, processed milk and meat technology, poultry products technology, development of value added novel livestock products, by-products utilization and veterinary public health.
