The Department of Physical Education, VCRI, Orathanadu has to its credit many laurels contributed by sincere efforts of talented athletes. This department has been actively involved to bring out the dynamic potential of the students and mould them into perfect athletes. For the development of infrastructure facilities towards sports and games activities, sports goods have been sufficiently purchased for Cricket, Football, Volleyball, Throw Ball, Handball, Ball badminton Racquet and ball, Shuttle badminton Racquet and Cock, Tennikoit, Carrom and fitness Equipment like multi-station indoor gym, aerobic cycles for the use of students and staff. The following Temporary play fields were laid out for students to participate in various sports activities.

Veterinary college and Research Institute, Orathanadu annual Sports Meet was held at college ground on 03rd January 2017. Our Chief guest, Thiru.K.Babu,B.A.,B.L.,N.I.S., District Sports and Youth Welfare Officer, Thanjavur and Dr.S.Muthukrishnan,Ph.D., Sports Secretary, VCRI, Orathanadu, gave welcome address and Annual Report by Dr. S. Ezhilarasi, Ph.D., Assistant Director of Physical Education,,VCRI, Orathanadu and vote of thanks by Selvan P.Manikandan, Final Year Sports Representative.
Students participated in various sports activities like Cricket, Volleyball, Badminton, Kho-Kho, Throw Ball,Chess,Carom,Kabaddi,100mts Running, Shotput, Discus Throw, Javelin Throw ,Long jump etc., K.Kathirvel - IV B.V.Sc.,won the individual championship(men) this year. R. P.V.Jeevika-I B.V.Sc won the individual championship (women) this year. The overall championship was won by Red house.
