DEPARTMENT OF VETERINARY ANATOMY

This Department was started in June 2012 to offer undergraduate courses in the discipline of Veterinary Anatomy as per Veterinary Council of India (VCI) regulations. Apart from this, the department is involved in Research and Extension activities.

Objectives

  • To teach anatomy of domestic animals to undergraduate students of veterinary science
  • To impart training programmes for field veterinarians/ clinicians to refresh their anatomical knowledge and provide hands on training which can be applied in clinical diagnosis, physical examination and surgical procedures
  • To undertake research programmes on basic sciences and applied anatomy

Undergraduate Courses Offered

Well established laboratory facilities and complete teaching aids like mounted skeletons (Ox, Buffalo, Horse, Goat, Dog, Pig, Fowl, Emu, Camel, Duck, Pigeon, Crocodile), Bones, Viscera of various domestic animals and birds, Microscopic slides on general and special histology and embryology and Histology flex boards are available. The following courses have been offered to the undergraduate students at this Department under VCI pattern in the first and second year of the B.V.Sc. & A.H.

  • VAN 111 – Veterinary Gross Anatomy –I (1+2)
  • VAN 121 – Veterinary Gross Anatomy –II (2+2)
  • VAN 211 – Applied Anatomy and Splanchnology (1+1)
  • VAN 221 – Histology and Embryology (2+2)
