DEPARTMENT OF VETERINARY PHYSIOLOGY AND BIOCHEMISTRY

The Department of Veterinary Physiology and Biochemistry was established in 2021 at Veterinary College and Research institute, Udumalpet, with an aim to impart education to undergraduate students in Veterinary Physiology and Veterinary biochemistry as per the Minimum Standards of Veterinary Education (MSVE 2016) prescribed by VCI.

Objectives

(1)Imparting education to the undergraduate students in the disciplines Veterinary Physiology and Veterinary Biochemistry
(a) Student can able to understand the functions of important physiological systems and biochemical reactions of body life processes/metabolism.
(b) Students can be able to perform, analyse and prepare clinical report on experiments and observations in physiology and Biochemistry.
(2)To formulate and carryout research projects with financial assistance from the University / External funding agencies.

Education

The following courses are being offered to the undergraduate students:

I Professional Year B.V.Sc & A.H.

Veterinary Physiology (Paper I & II) – 4 +1 credit hours

II Professional Year B.V.Sc & A.H.

Veterinary Biochemistry (Paper I & II) – 2 +1 credit hours

IV Professional Year B.V.Sc & A.H.

Veterinary Plinical Practice - Laboratory diagnosis - 0+1 credit hours

INFRASTRUCTURE

Department is well equipped with instruments required to impart quality education to undergraduate students in the disciplines namely Veterinary Physiology and Veterinary Biochemistry. It has well equipped facilities to analyse all Haematological, Clinical Biochemistry and Climatology parameters.
