DEPARTMENT OF VETERINARY ANATOMY


The Department of Veterinary Anatomy was started in the year 2012 with an aim to make the UG and PG students as world class technocrats in the subject of Veterinary Anatomy. The Department has Osteology and Arthrology laboratory, Dissection Hall, Histology and Embryology laboratory, Dissection Store, Embalming Room, Tissue preparation room, Research Laboratory and Museum facilities. The laboratories are equipped with instruments such as Hot air oven, Manual Rotary microtome, Embedding unit, Tissue floatation bath, Cooling Plate, Weighing balance, Trinocular microscope fitted with imaging system, Advanced Imaging system with 40inch monitor, Binocular microscopes, Tissue processing assembly, Storage container of 250 and 650 liter capacity, Embalming unit.

Objectives

Education:

To impart education in Veterinary Anatomy to Undergraduate / Post graduate and Doctoral degree students.

Researach:

To carry out need based Morphological / Histological /Clinical Anatomical / Laboratory Anatomical research on animals, birds and laboratory animals.

Extension:

To display Museum specimens for Educational activities.

Education

As per the MSVE, 2016, the course of Veterinary Anatomy course is offered with 4+3 credit hours to the first-year B.V.Sc. & A.H. students.


Research

The Department has a vision to promote and strengthen the research activities in the thrust areas such as Studies on standardization of landmarks for various surgical and clinical procedures, preparation of teaching alternative in veterinary Anatomy etc.

Extension

The Department is involved in various extension programmes on livestock and poultry production as and when required on need basis.

  • Museum with wet storage of specimens of arthrological, splanchnological and embryological importance.
  • Educational charts related to histology and embryology topics were displayed in the histology laboratory.
