DEPARTMENT OF VETERINARY PUBLIC HEALTH AND EPIDEMIOLOGY


The Department of Veterinary Public Health and Epidemiology was created as a constituent of Veterinary College and Research Institute, Orathanadu, Thanjavur District during the year 2012 with an aim to offer Under Graduate courses in B.V.Sc. and A.H.


Education

  • This department is offering undergraduate courses as per the VCI regulations
  • The course on M.V.Sc in Veterinary Public Health and Epidemiology is being offered from the year 2020 for the post graduate students.

Laboratory facilities

  • Assessment of microbial quality of milk, meat, egg, milk products, meat products and environmental samples
  • Assessment of water quality viz. physical, metallic and non metallic impurities and microbial quality.
  • Molecular detection of zoonotic pathogens.

Extension

  • Awareness programme on World Zoonoses Day” was conducted on 06.07.2021
  • “Awareness programme on World Rabies Day” was conducted on 28.08.2020
  • “Anti-Rabies Vaccination Programme” to commemorate “World Rabies Day –2019” conducted on 28.09.2019
  • “Awareness programme on World Zoonoses Day” was conducted on 05.07.2019
  • “Awareness programme on World Environment Day” was conducted on 05.06.2019
  • “NABARD Sponspored CAT Training Programme was conducted from 07.05.2018 to 09.05.2018.
  • “Animal Health Camp and Awareness Programme” was conducted by on 03.05.2018 at Kannathangudi Melaiyur village, Orathanadu taluk, Thanjavur district in the event of “World Veterinary Day – 2018.
  • “Anti-rabies vaccination programme” was conducted at Thanjavur on 25.03.2018 jointly with SPCA, Thanjavur.
  • “Awareness programme on World Tuberculosis Day” was conducted at Neduvakottai village, Orathanadu taluk, Thanjavur district on 24.03.2018
