DEPARTMENT OF VETERINARY PUBLIC HEALTH AND EPIDEMIOLOGY

Veterinary Public Health and Epidemiology is a constituent department of Veterinary College and Research Institute, Namakkal as per Veterinary Council of India – Minimum Standards of Veterinary Education Regulations 2016 with an aim to offer Under Graduate courses in B.V.Sc. and A.H degree programme.

Objectives

To impart UG education in the discipline of Veterinary Public Health and Epidemiology for long-term benefit of human and animal welfare and environmental integirity.
To improve and enhance the quality of animal and human health by application of specialized knowledge and skills of epidemiology and population medicine.
To undertake field oriented research projects on epidemiology of zoonotic diseases and modelling for effective implementation of strategic measures.
To disseminate scientific knowledge on meat and milk hygiene, public health and zoonotic diseases to the healthcare professionals and public.

Achievements / Excellence

Education

Offers courses to Under-graduates students.
Imparting hand on training for diagnosis of endemic zoonotic diseases and mass immunization campaigns.
Enhancing knowledge level of veterinary students on environmental issues and mitigation strategies and environmental protection measures including tree plantation.
