Objectives and Mandate

  • To impart quality undergraduate and postgraduate education in Veterinary Gynaecology, Obstetrics, and Animal Reproduction.
  • To undertake basic, strategic, and applied research in Veterinary Gynaecology and Obstetrics.
  • To train field veterinarians on recent advances and emerging technologies in Animal Reproduction, Gynaecology, and Obstetrics.
  • To provide scientific farm advisory and extension services to the farming community through organized outreach and mass contact programmes.

Clinical Services

  • Artificial insemination services in bovines to enhance reproductive efficiency and genetic improvement.
  • Diagnosis and therapeutic management of infertility in farm and companion animals using modern reproductive techniques.
  • Pregnancy diagnosis and reproductive health monitoring.
  • Comprehensive obstetrical services, including handling of dystocia and obstetrical emergencies.
  • Caesarean section and other minor/major obstetrical surgical interventions.
  • Post-partum care and management of reproductive disorders.
  • Andrological evaluation and breeding soundness assessment of male animals.

Fourth Professional Year (As per Veterinary Council of India – 2016 MSVE Regulations)

  • Unit I: Veterinary Gynaecology

Postgraduate programme

  • Follows ICAR Academic Regulations-2021 and TANUVAS Recommendations-2022.
  • Provides advanced training and research opportunities in Veterinary and Basic Sciences with a focus on Animal Reproduction, Gynaecology, and Obstetrics.
  • M.V.Sc. Programme: Offered since 1999-2000, includes 19 courses covering reproductive physiology, biotechnology, clinical practice, and species-specific reproduction. Includes Master’s Seminar, Special Problem, and Master’s Research.
  • Ph.D. Programme: Includes 11 courses on advanced concepts in gynaecology, obstetrics, andrology, and reproductive biotechnology. Includes Doctoral Seminars, Special Problem, and major Doctoral Research.
