Genesis

The Department of Veterinary Pharmacology and Toxicology was one of the earliest departments of the college. The department was established for teaching of materia medica and pharmacy. This department started to offer postgraduate degree programmes in the year 1956. To date, 119 students have completed M.V.Sc and 35 students have completed Ph.D. from this department.

Facilities Available

UG Laboratory

The students are provided hands-on training in compounding of various pharmaceutical preparations and the detection of toxic metals / non-metals/plants in biological samples. Computer aided simulated animal experiments are used to demonstrate the effect of action of various drugs on different body systems. Experiments on antibacterial chemotherapy and toxicological diagnosis are also demonstrated. They are also exposed to various dosage forms of drugs. The department has following UG laboratories (2230 sq. ft.) to handle UG practical classes as per VCI norms.
