DEPARTMENT OF DAIRY MICROBIOLOGY


The Department of Dairy Microbiology came into being during the year 2019 to specifically deal with microbiological issues related to production and processing of milk and milk products. At the time of inception, the department was mainly engaged in Under Graduate and Post Graduate teaching programme formulated by ICAR.

Objectives

Education:

To impart education in microbiology of milk and milk products for undergraduate and postgraduate students

Research:

To conduct research on need based field and industry oriented microbiological problems

Extension:

To conduct training programmes and demonstrations on issues of microbiological origin related to milk and milk products to the farmers, entrepreneurs, dairy processors, rural youths and Self Help Group members

Education

As per the recommendations of the V Deans Committee of ICAR, New Delhi the Department is currently offering the courses to B.Tech (Dairy Technology) students, for total instructional credits of 21 (14+7).
