Veterinary Physiology and Bio-Chemistry

The Department of Veterinary Physiology and Biochemistry is well equipped with facilities such as automatic hematological and biochemical analyzer, portable Electrocardiogram, climatology equipment, spectrophotometer, paper chromatography system, physiograph, software for nerve muscle experiment, microkjeldahl and digestion sets, computerized physiology teaching software for various systems, surface integrator, fume hood etc.,

The department will actively involve in teaching undergraduate students using modern education technology to equip veterinarians to meet challenges in the field, research in the identified thrust areas and in the provision of analytical facility in the domain of Physiology and Biochemistry.

The department offers 4+1 (Theory and Practical) Veterinary physiology course for the first professional year students focusing on various topics of Veterinary Physiology viz, Blood, cardiovascular, nervous and muscular systems; Digestive and respiratory systems; Excretory and endocrine systems; Reproduction, lactation, growth and environmental physiology; Climatology; Neurophysiology of behaviors, types of behavior, communication, learning and memory behavioral plasticity.

Veterinary Biochemistry course focuses on topics viz General veterinary biochemistry; Intermediary metabolism and Veterinary analytical biochemistry.
