DEPARTMENT OF VETERINARY PARASITOLOGY


The Department of Veterinary Parasitology was established at Veterinary College and Research Institute, Udumalpet in the year 2023with the staff sanctions of one Professor, one Associate Professor and two Assistant Professors.


Objectives

  • To offer courses to undergraduate students of B.V.Sc,&A.H., in the discipline of Veterinary Parasitology.
  • To undertake research projects on parasitic diseases of livestock and poultry in collaboration with external funding agencies.
  • To establish disease diagnostic facility for screening clinical samples.
  • To create awareness on parasitic infections of animals to farmers thorough extension aids.
  • To offer continuing professional development programme and training to field veterinarians in parasitological techniques.

Education

The following courses offered in the third professional year to the undergraduate students in the discipline of Veterinary Parasitology as per the Minimum Standards of Veterinary Education – 2016 regulations prescribed by Veterinary Council of India:

Veterinary Parasitology (Paper I and II) – 3+2 credit hours:

Laboratory facilities

UG Laboratory

The department has two laboratories equipped with teaching aids and instruments to provide hands-on training to undergraduate students as per MSVE 2016 standardsfor UG teaching.
