DEPARTMENT OF VETERINARY GYNAECOLOGY AND OBSTETRICS

Department of Veterinary Gynaecology and Obstetrics, Veterinary College and Research Institute, Udumalpet was established during 2023to offer Under-Graduate course (B.V.Sc. & A.H.) as per G.O(Ms.) No.96 dated 18.08.2020 Animal Husbandry Dairying and Fisheries (AH6) Department, Chennai as well as carrying out basic and applied research in the field of Veterinary Gynaecology and Obstetrics.

Objectives

To offer undergraduate courses in Veterinary Gynaecology and Obstetrics.
To undertake research on infertility in farm animals.
To disseminate the technologies in thereproductive management to the stake holders

Under-Graduate Education

As per Veterinary Council of India under MSVE Regulations (2016), The following courses are being offered to the undergraduate (B.V.Sc. & A.H.) students at this Department,

Veterinary Gynaecology and Obstetrics (2+1)

Unit – 1 : Veterinary Gynaecology
Unit – 2 : Veterinary Obstetrics
Unit – 3 : Veterinary Andrology and AI

Credit based annual examination pattern will be carried out for Papers I and II

Paper I : Unit - 1
Paper II : Unit - 2 and Unit - 3

LONG TERM

Exploration and amelioration of repeat breeding syndrome in farm animal species
Development of alternative diagnostic and therapeutic protocols for augmenting fertility in farm and companion animals
Establishment of Assisted Reproductive Biotechnology Unit

SHORT TERM

Manipulation of Utrero-ovarian dynamics for treating infertile farm animals
Incidence and impact of infertility in Equines
Incidence of cystic ovarian degeneration and response to the treatment procedures in cows
