DEPARTMENT OF ANIMAL NUTRITION


The Department of Animal Nutrition started functioning in the Veterinary College and Research Institute, Udumalpet from the year 2021.


Objectives

  • To impart undergraduate and postgraduate education to students.
  • To undertake research on nutrition of livestock and poultry.
  • To advice farming community on feeding technologies to suit their needs.

Education

As per the MSVE 2016 regulations prescribed by the Veterinary Council of India, the following course is offered to B.V.Sc & A.H during second Professional Year.Animal Nutrition (Paper I and II) – 3+1 credit hours

  • Unit – 1 : Principles of Animal Nutrition and Feed Technology
  • Unit – 2 : Applied Ruminant Nutrition – I

Animal Nutrition (Paper I and II) – 3+1 credit hours.

  • Paper III: Applied Ruminant Nutrition –II
  • Paper IV: Applied Non-Ruminant Nutrition

Research

Ongoing Research Project

  • “Occurrence of aflatoxin-B1 in feedstuffs and its impact on the incidence of aflatoxin-M1 in milk” funded by the Tamil Nadu State Council for Science and Technology. Computer Laboratory is equipped with 20 computers with internet facility as well as audio-visual aids for U.G. teaching.
