NATIONAL SERVICE SCHEME

National Service Scheme (NSS) is a noble experiment in academic curriculum as permanent student youth programme. The NSS activity provides the students an opportunity to work with the people in villages and slums, thus it brings our students and academic institutions closer to the society. It also inculcates the spirit of voluntary work among the students through sustained community interactions. It shows how to combine knowledge and action to achieve results that are desirable for community development. It is felt that their interaction with the common villagers and slum dwellers will expose them to the realities of life and bring about a change in their social perception. The Ministry of Sports and Youth affairs in Government of India is responsible for the coordination of all NSS units functioning under various educational institutions in India.
The motto of the National Service Scheme is "NOT ME BUT YOU". This reflects the essence of democratic living and upholds the need for selfless service for fellow human beings. It underlines that the welfare of an individual is ultimately depends on the welfare of society as a whole.
