NCC AND NSS

NATIONAL CADET CORPS

Applications and renewal of willingness has been submitted annually since from the year 2014 to start Senior division National Cadet Corps unit at VCRI, Tirunelveli to the following NCC offices.

  • The Commanding Officer, 1 (TN) R & V Squadron, Chennai

Activities

Veterinary College and Research Institute, Tirunelveli organized a webinar on “Career opportunities for Veterinarians in Indian Army” for the B.V.Sc., & A. H., students of TANUVAS on 03/12/2020 in virtual platform in which Major Dr.S Sridhar, Equitation/Veterinary Officer, Officer Training Academy, Chennai and Major (R) Dr. M.K.Ganesh, Indian Army delivered lecture on Role of Vets in Armed Forces and Career Opportunities for Vets after Short Service Commission in Indian Army. Totally, 160 Veterinary Students of Constituent Colleges of TANUVAS Viz., Chennai, Namakkal, Orthanadu and Tirunelveli participated and benefitted from this webinar.

NATIONAL SERVICE SCHEME

The motto of NSS “Not me but You” reflects the essence of democratic lining and upholds the need for self-service. NSS is also offered as one of the compulsory co-curricular activities for students. The NSS unit regularly conduct campus mainly aimed at Swatch Bharat, Tree plantation, Blood donation, animal welfare and such other themes. The units have adopted a village in Theni and significantly contributed by conducting awareness programmes on animals’ production, health and various social issues on World Veterinary Day, World Zoonoses Day and World Environment Day. It helps to improve the personality of Students and make them socially responsible. It includes the moral value and ethics that everyone should contribute for the improvement of society. Some of the important events conducted in the recent year is given below.
This college has an NSS unit to inculcate the social responsibility among the students by involving them in community activities, social services activities. The NSS unit of VCRI, Tirunelveli has undergraduate student volunteers. The NSS units are regularly involved in conducting veterinary and human health camps. Besides, blood donation camps, career guidance programmes, awareness campaign, etc. are held regularly. NSS camps are also conducted to foster team building and to inculcate nation building among students. The NSS unit is also conducting the yoga session for the benefit of teaching and administrative staff.
