The hostel facilities at Veterinary College and Research Institute (VCRI), Tirunelveli, are designed to provide a safe, comfortable, and student-friendly residential environment. The hostel is administered by a Warden supported by four Deputy Wardens, who oversee general administration and mess management separately for boys and girls hostels under the overall supervision of the Dean.
The VCRI hostel was initially established on 09 October 2012 at the District Livestock Farm Campus, Abishegapatti, to accommodate the first batch of B.V.Sc. & A.H. students admitted during the academic year 2012–2013. Subsequently, dedicated boys’ and girls’ hostels were constructed within the college campus and occupied from 05 November 2014.
With the increase in student intake, two additional hostels were constructed and brought into use from 05 June 2023. At present, the campus has four hostels—two for boys and two for girls—catering to the growing student population.
The hostel comprises a total of 252 rooms, including:
These facilities can accommodate up to 600 students. Each student is provided with essential furniture, including a steel cot, study table, and chair.
Currently, 518 students (219 boys and 299 girls) are residing in the hostels.
