Veterinary College and Research Institute, Tirunelveli has been contributing immensely for the ecological development and environmental protection in many ways since its inception in the year 2012. One among them is the formation of Eco Club on 31.01.2022. It was formed with the motive to congregate the environmentally conscious students towards preserving the ecology and environment. Around 213 students have enrolled themselves as members of Eco club so far. The students have been eagerly taking up the Eco Club activities regularly. The activities of Eco Club include,
Recently, we initiated ‘One Student One Tree Program’ in which the newly admitted students of B.V.Sc & A.H degree programme planted a sapling in honour of their mother. This initiative is in line with the ‘Ek ped Maa Ke naam’(Plant4mother) programme unveiled by Government of India Through this initiative, we have not only made contribution to the eco system but also created the feeling of belongingness among the students by erecting a placard to display the name of student with their mother’s name adjacent to each tree sapling. The students have been taking care of all trees since the day of plantation by watering and applying the manure to them regularly.
Besides, we celebrate the World Environment Day every year. Many events like plantation drive, Guest lecture and conducting various competitions for the students will be carried out to mark the occasion.
