Department of Veterinary Surgery and Radiology


The Department was established in the Year 2023 with mandate to impart undergraduate education in the subject of Veterinary Surgery and Radiology and to serve for the farmer in treating the sick animal along with the clinical teaching.

Objectives

  • To offer quality education to students
  • To establish a standard operation theatre for large and small animals for surgical intervention of cases.
  • To establish a standard radiograph unit with X- ray viewers to facilitate student teaching and hands on experience in radiography for the students
  • To provide Expert opinion for the referred cases from the Veterinary Hospital, Dispensaries and nearby Private Clinics
  • To carry out research work on different areas of Veterinary surgery and radiology in order to benefit the pet and domestic ownersand farmers, fellow researchers and the scientific community

Education

As per the MSVE 2016 regulations prescribed by VCI, the department is offering under-graduate courses for fourth year and fifth professional year students:

  • Unit-1(Veterinary General Surgery)
  • Unit-2 (Veterinary Anaesthesiology)
  • Unit-3 (Veterinary Diagnostic Imaging Techniques)
  • Unit-4: (Regional Surgery-I)
  • Unit-5: (Regional Surgery-II)
  • Unit-6 (Orthopaedics and Lameness)

Infrastructure

The department is to be equipped with the state-of-the-art facilities such as Endoscopy, Large and Small Animal Ultrasound scanning, Electrocardiogram, Computerized Radiography,physiotherapy, Operation theatre with all essential amenities for small and large animals, Exclusive large and small animal inhalational anaesthetic apparatus.
