DEPARTMENT OF VETERINARY PARASITOLOGY


The Department of Veterinary Parasitology was created during May, 2023 as a constituent unit of Veterinary College and Research Institute, Veerapandi, Theni District, with an aim to offer Under Graduate courses in B.V.Sc., and A.H. Apart from undergraduate teaching, the department involves in research and public health awareness activities on parasitic and parasite-borne zoonotic infectious diseases of livestock, poultry, pet animals and humans along with disease investigation and clinical samples analysis.

Objectives

  • To offer courses in Veterinary Parasitology for undergraduate students and to introduce innovative educational technologies in teaching and evaluation for U.G. students.
  • To undertake research on epidemiology, diagnosis and control of parasitic diseases of veterinary importance
  • To offer training programmes and contact courses to field veterinarians todisseminate the latest trends in diagnosis, control and prevention of parasitic diseases/infections
  • To create awareness to entrepreneurs, farmers and pet owners on parasitic infections ana their control in livestock and pets
