DEPARTMENT OF VETERINARY GYNAECOLOGY AND OBSTETRICS

The Department of Veterinary Gynaecology and Obstetrics was established on 17.05.2023 as a part of Veterinary College and Research Institute, Theni with an aim to offer quality education to undergraduate students in the discipline of Veterinary Gynaecology and Obstetrics as per Minimum Standards of Veterinary Education (MSVE, 2016) prescribed by Veterinary Council of India and also to provide Research and Extension services.

Objectives

To impart quality education in Veterinary Gynaecology and Obstetrics to Undergraduate students.
To provide information to the animal owners to improve the conception rate in dairy animals and companion animals also and in prevention of infertility and management of infertile animals by way of extension activities.

Education

Department offers a course on "Veterinary Gynaecology and Obstetrics" for the students undergoing B.V.Sc. & A.H. degree programme. As per Veterinary Council of India under MSVE 2016 Regulations the following courses is being offered to undergraduate students since 2023.

Veterinary Gynaecology and Obstetrics (2+1) Theory and practical for IV professional year
Veterinary Clinical practice I (0+1) – Medicine ward for III professional year
Veterinary Clinical practice II (0+6) – Medicine ward for IV professional year
