Tamil Nadu Veterinary and Animal Sciences University has created its own portal www.tanuvas.ac.in with appropriate contents for the demand and needs of local population. This web content is having information about dairy, sheep, goat farming, piggery, rabbit, poultry farming and other animal husbandry farming practices, home science, agriculture, horticulture and fisheries including information on health, wealth, weather, education, market information and exclusive frequently asked question area for the benefit of rural folks.
Touch Screen Information Kiosks
Touch Screen Information Kiosks, a new initiative using ICT tools were installed at various locations for the benefit of the farmers and also to effectively utilize the time at the office premises. To promote in-depth self-learning amongst the livestock farming community, self-learning modules in vernacular language with user-friendly menus, voice-guidance for learners having difficulty in reading and suitable photographs, pictures and videos on package of practices on dairy farming, sheep and goat farming, poultry farming, Japanese quail farming and marketing avenues were developed and installed in the touch screen information kiosks. A module about Right to Information Act-2005 is also made available. During the year 2013-14, 10 new Touch Screen Information Kiosks were established at VUTRCs at Tiruchirapalli, Thanjavur, Salem, Melmaruvathur, Cuddalore, Vellore, Dindigul and Rajapalayam, FTC, Tiruvarur and Farmers Hostel, Madhavaram to the already existing 17 kiosks at Madras Veterinary College campus, Agricultural Technology Information Centre, Kattupakkam, Veterinary College and Research Institute, Namakkal, Fisheries College and Research Institute, Thoothukkudi, VUTRCs at Coimbatore, Dharmapuri, Erode, Karur, Tiruppur, Madurai, Nagercoil and Villupuram, FTCs at Kancheepuram and Theni, Poultry Research Station, Madhavaram, Regional Research Centre, Pudukkottai and TANUVAS Head quarters, Madhavaram.

Village Information Centres
This directorate has established nine village information centres, of which three centres are established at the community buildings in Chitter village, Vellore district, Puduthamaraipatti village, Madurai district, Kuzhumani village, Tiruchirapalli district and other six centres are located at the households women SHGs in Varakalpattu, Kandrakottai villages of Cuddalore district, Kancheepuram, Maraimalai Nagar of Kancheepuram district, Aminjikarai, Pallikaranai of Chennai district. These centres were equipped with print, audio, video and electronic information tools for accessing information on Animal Husbandry and allied activities. These village information centres located in the community buildings and women SHG households for public access and are being managed successfully by the volunteers.
